We are looking to recruit a Health Care Assistant to join our established nursing team. We are seeking motivated Health Care Assistants who want to make a difference to patient outcomes and wish to join our welcoming team.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work in an acute environment allowing them to develop their skills in trauma orthopaedics.
Ward 10 is a 22-bedded orthopaedic unit which specializes in providing care for trauma patients undergoing complex total hip and total knee replacements, along with other upper and lower limb surgery.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Registered Nurse in administering direct patient care.
2. Communicate clearly with patients, carers, relatives, and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
3. Discuss patient comfort and safety with patients and record communications on Wirral Millennium.
4. Prioritize own workload.
5. Inform qualified staff of changes in patients’ condition or observations.
6. Escort and chaperone patients as appropriate.
7. Communicate with patients/carers, considering the needs of the individual.
8. Undertake some clerical duties such as filing.
9. Order supplies within agreed stock levels, ensuring they are stored correctly.
10. Ensure availability, cleanliness, and maintenance of equipment.
11. Assist in the safe handling of patients' valuables and property.
