Job summary Ward 22 is an acute, fast paced environment compromising of 36 beds, with patients varying from tracheostomies, laryngectomies and non invasive ventatilation requiring acute interventions/management. We provide holistic care, to the acutely unwell and all patients with chronic respiratory conditions. The ward treats a wide range of thoracic conditions including lung cancer, asthma, COPD, TB, type 1 and type 2 respiratory failure, pleural effusions, pneumothorax, Tracheostomies and PE'S. Support will be given at a clinical level by a senior nurse, and from a wider organisational structure including the preceptorship lead, clinical skills team, clinical practice development nurse and learning and development. Staff can obtain the knowledge and skills required to rotate into the Non invasive ventalitation unit.
