This is a unique opportunity to become a member of our senior management team and to lead on the local authority's additional learning needs (ALN) provision and support services, including phased implementation of the Additional Learning Needs and Education Tribunal (Wales) Act 2018.
The role has responsibility for support for pupils with complex needs, the Educational Psychology Service, specialist services and school-based ALN resource units, including the Pupil Referral Unit.
The post holder will give strategic direction to the organisation on inclusion and advise on support services for the inclusion of children, young people, and schools.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience of inclusion services either in schools or in local government. They will have the ability to improve the range of inclusion services available for families by designing, developing, and managing models of integrated working, which involve extensive liaison with partner agencies and stakeholders.
The successful candidate will oversee the development of professional practice in the area of inclusion, working closely with early years settings and schools to ensure that the curriculum is designed to meet the needs of children with ALN.
The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.
Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.
An Enhanced with Childrens Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
