Morson has a contract opportunity for a Safety Advisor Construction. The service will be provided at our Clients Site, Dounreay.
Contract Duration: 12 months
Hourly Rate: based on a pa salary of £35,378 to £55,342 PAYE or Umbrella (Inside IR35)
£75 T&S: for candidates out with daily commutable distance
Enhancements: Paid for Overtime Working
Hours of Work: 37.9 per week
Annual Leave: Excellent Annual Leave and Public Holiday Entitlement (in total 35.5 days per annum)
ROLE
The Prototype Fast Reactor (PFR) at Dounreay is a former test and development nuclear power station now undergoing decommissioning. To support the decommissioning programme, several infrastructure upgrades and new facilities are required as well as demolition of existing support buildings. This includes:
1. Replacement and repairs to external building fabric
2. Maintenance of building structures
3. Construction of a new ventilation plant room and tie into existing facilities
4. Demolition of disused store buildings and construction of a replacement modern standards store
The balance of projects will include scope where PFR is acting as both the Client and Principal Contractor CDM roles as well as acting as the Client with an appointed Principal Contractor. An experienced Construction Safety Advisor is required to support the PFR team and contractor staff to monitor the overall construction safety envelope and interfaces and provide specialist advice to the facility management team.
Requirement to meet core Dounreay business hours Mon-Friday 08:00 to 16:15 although some flexibility can be built in if required.
Core requirements of the role
1. Review and comment on contractor documentation and site management system documents where required
2. Provide Industrial Health and Safety advice to Site construction and demolition projects
3. Advise and assist projects with the preparation of pre-construction information
4. Mentor other Safety Advisors in the field of construction and CDM Regulations
5. Design and deliver Industrial Health & Safety Training
6. Liaise with stakeholders, including Regulators and auditors on Health and Safety issues
7. Undertake and report on planned and unplanned industrial health and safety inspections, report observed safety deficiencies and suggest remedial action
8. Represent Dounreay at internal forums
9. Contribute to and on occasion lead risk assessments
10. Chair or contribute to investigations
Specific Knowledge/Experience Required:
1. Experience of construction site management
2. Suitable accredited training for construction safety professionals e.g. CITB/IOSH
3. CDM Compliance experience
4. Temporary Works supervisor/coordinator experience
