Job Purpose
This is an exciting opportunity to work with the largest generator specialist in the Southwest. You will support a very busy Transport Department carrying out maintenance and repair of the company’s fleet, including LGV’s, land rovers, vans, forklifts trucks and trailers. As part of the garage team, you will provide break down cover, which will include out of hours availability for which an allowance will be paid.
Key Responsibilities
1. Responsible for maintenance and repairs to fleet vehicles and equipment.
2. Responsible for maintenance and repairs to mechanical handling equipment.
3. Responsible for maintenance and repairs to generator trailers and other fleet trailers.
4. Responsible for purchasing vehicle parts as required, liaising with the Parts Manager if necessary to ensure costs are kept under control.
5. Attend vehicle breakdowns when required.
6. Record details of all work done and schedule servicing to comply with Operators Licence requirements, liaising with the hire department.
7. Provide out of Hours breakdown cover on a callout rota
8. Deliver & collect generators and ancillary equipment using appropriate company vehicles where required, including refuelling.
9. Provide general assistance in the yard, including loading & offloading equipment.
10. Comply with the Company Health & Safety Policy, including carrying out general housekeeping to ensure work areas are tidy. This includes company vehicles.
11. Comply with all aspects of the company ISO 9001:2000 procedures, proactively contributing to the company’s continuous improvement program.
Skills & Experience Required
12. HGV Class 1 (C + E) Driving Licence ESSENTIAL
13. Minimum of Light & Heavy Vehicle Parts I & II City & Guilds Certificate or Light & Heavy Vehicle Technicians Certificate Part I or equivalent ESSENTIAL
14. Demonstrable and proven experience as an LGV fitter ESSENTIAL
15. Digital Tachograph Holder ESSENTIAL
16. Some Driver’s CPC Training DESIRABLE
17. ADR Licence DESIRABLE
18. Forklift Licence DESIRABLE
19. Lorry Loader Certified PREFERRED
