Please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification for further information and main responsibilities. Read what three of our previous Teaching Fellows have to say about the role: The clinical teaching fellow role has been instrumental in my development as an educator and clinician. The opportunity to teach a variety of different topics has increased my knowledge which has benefited my clinical practice and preparation for postgraduate exams. By conducting the masters in medical education I have expanded my skills as an educator whilst also being able to develop and adapt teaching sessions in line with the education literature. It is an amazing opportunity to focus on developing teaching and learning strategies whilst building a deeper understanding of the role of an educator. As the role involves delivering teaching across many attachments, year groups and hospital sites it provides a dynamic and varied environment. There is scope to develop and adapt teaching sessions alongside additional opportunities to learn more about medical education such as assessments and remediation. I have been able to organise clinical days in the speciality of my choosing and it has been fantastic to work in the medical education team who have been very welcoming, enthusiastic and supportive. My career wouldnt have been the same enjoyable experience without this incredible opportunity to fully engage with medical education. I cant recommend this role highly enough! By far the main selling point for me is the variety. We design and deliver sessions to medical students from all years of the clinical course, covering topics from a range of specialties across the whole curriculum. A session might be theoretical or practical or a combination of both! and might take place in the classroom, the Clinical Skills Lab, or out on the wards. In addition to the teaching, theres the opportunity to study for a postgraduate qualification in Medical Education, plus the weekly supernumerary clinical day in a specialty of our choosing. All CTFs work across both sites (LCH and PHB), adding further to the variety of this post. You can also choose to get involved with extra projects, or pursue related interests for example, examining for OSCEs. My colleagues are fantastic too the CTFs are a dynamic and enthusiastic team, and were well supported by lovely Administrative staff behind the scenes. The Clinical Teaching Fellow role at ULHT has transformed my practice as a teacher and clinician, allowing me to practice the varies roles of an educator alongside working towards postgraduate teaching qualifications. The flexibility of clinical sessions has also allowed me to gain valuable career experience in areas of my choosing. The undergraduate education team are committed and supportive, resulting in the delivery of high quality education. An excellent role for my personal and professional development.
