To work with the Medicines Management Pharmacy technician (where available) to ensure that an accurate medicines reconciliation is carried out and documented for all newly admitted patients and that any discrepancies or problems are resolved and any relevant information communicated to the patients GP and Community Pharmacy (via DMS). To carry out and participate in clinical audits and research as required. To allocate, supervise and check the work of pharmacy technicians, pharmacy support workers and other staff, as required. To give professional advice on pharmaceutical matters to medical, nursing and other professional staff. To assist in education the training of other grades of pharmacy staff and other health care professionals when required. To participate in the departmental, Saturday, Sunday, Bank holiday and Emergency Duty service rota. To sort returned drugs/waste, separating items to be credited and those to be discarded, according to procedure; to put back returns on the computer as per procedure; to be actively involved in sorting returns on the wards. To undertake other reasonable duties, within the framework of the post, as directed by the Chief/Principal Pharmacist. Person Specification Qualifications Masters Degree MPharm (or equivalent). Competency assessed and examined professional registration with the GPhC. Mandatory CPD to maintain fitness to practice. Able to undertake Diploma in Pharmacy Practice. Recent Hospital experience or Hospital Foundation Trainee or UK pharmacy experience.
