Mechanical Shift Engineer - Mars Wrigley - Nights
Plymouth
Salary: £34,000 - £42,000 (Base salary/Shift Allowances Inc) + Bonus
Shift: Monday - Friday 10pm - 6am

Purpose of the Role:
The purpose of a Mechanical Engineer is to maintain conditions of operating equipment by:
1. Repair or replacement of failed components.
2. Troubleshooting and repairing routine mechanical problems on assigned equipment.
3. Conducting preventative maintenance on various manufacturing and packaging equipment.
4. Documenting WO's/PM's using computerized maintenance management system.
5. Supporting Operations in equipment setup and adjustments to centerline operational output of assigned equipment.
6. Participating on MSE teams.
7. Training operators in AM activities.
8. Conducting Breakdown Analysis.
What are we looking for?
Proven experience in diagnosing and fixing mechanical issues within an FMCG environment.
Ability to troubleshoot various competencies: Pneumatic, Basic Hydraulic, Machining, and Mechanical Systems on all Process and Packaging Equipment with minimal guidance. You’ll be very hands-on with a self-driven attitude that works well with people and can prioritize workloads with ease.
Your Key Responsibilities:
1. Capable of troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling equipment within close tolerances.
2. Perform routine mechanical problem-solving on process & packaging equipment.
3. Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM's) on Process & Packaging Equipment with minimal guidance.
4. Support Operations in equipment setup and training of operators in Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activities.
5. Document Work Orders (WO) using SAP-PPM Plant Maintenance logging and completing maintenance activities on a daily basis.
6. Effectively communicate with Operators, Peers, Supervisors, and all levels of management on a daily basis.
7. Demonstrate Engagement in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Theory and Concepts through participation in Pillar Teams, training fellow Technicians/Operators in Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activities, including conducting Breakdown Analysis (BDA's).
8. Understand and adhere to Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) Procedures, Confined Space Procedures, and all other Plant Safety/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements related to supporting machinery uptime.
9. Complete risk assessment/permit to work and formulate method statements to assist in safe undertaking of any activity.
10. As a Team, properly maintain and ensure efficient and effective repairs of equipment in a fast-paced, high production work environment while prioritizing multiple mechanical/electrical and administrative tasks.
Key Functional Competencies & Technical Skills:
Minimum: Possess a fundamental understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings in order to solve problems in a timely manner.
Ability to troubleshoot basic pneumatic and mechanical drive systems at the component level on all assigned equipment, i.e., sorting systems and palletizing robots. Willingness to develop required technical skills in welding, basic machinist, and fabrication skill sets.
