Brook Street are working with a well established accountancy firm, based in Newport, who are looking for a Payroll Officer to join the team. This is a brand new role due to increased workload. This role is Monday - Friday, 8:30PM - 4:30PM, all on-site.
Responsibilities:
* Assist the Payroll Manager in managing a diverse client payroll portfolio.
* Complete weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly, and monthly payrolls for clients with employee counts ranging from 1 to 150 using Sage Payroll.
* Process BACS payments using third-party payment mandates.
* Ensure timely submission of all HMRC returns and compliance with regulations.
* Upload pension data to relevant pension providers accurately.
* Prepare and complete year-end submissions.
* Address and resolve client payroll queries promptly.
* Provide holiday cover and support for the Payroll Manager as needed.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in payroll within an accountancy practice.
* Proficient in Sage Payroll software.
* Strong understanding of payroll legislation and HMRC regulations.
* Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
* Strong communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving.
