Advanced Clinical Pharmacist: Family Services and Surgery (Maternity Cover)
Full Time (1.0 WTE) - one year. Secondments considered.
We are looking for a forward-thinking, motivated pharmacist to join our expanding team. You will work directly with our Advanced Pharmacists who have experience and practice depth having worked across different practice sectors and in leading teaching hospitals UK wide. As part of the pharmacy team, you will have the opportunity to work across a range of surgical and family services specialties and gain experience with the pain and nutrition teams.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Supporting provision of the clinical pharmacy service to Critical Care and the High Dependency Unit.
2. Supervision and support to our medicines management technicians and Foundation & Specialist pharmacists.
3. Working as an independent prescriber.
4. Financial reporting, formulary management, horizon scanning and implementation of national guidance.
5. Review of incident reports and DATIX to improve processes and practice to ensure safer medicines use.
6. Contributing to the training and development of medical, nursing and allied healthcare professionals.
You will be a non-medical independent prescriber or working towards this qualification.
Main duties of the job
The ideal candidate will have experience in delivering clinical pharmacy services to a range of specialties including patients in Level 2/3 beds. You will be committed to a high standard of medicines management and demonstrate excellent communication and mentoring skills.
The role requires strong prioritization and time management skills to enable you to work efficiently and effectively as part of the wider healthcare team. You will demonstrate the highest level of commitment to patient safety and be committed to delivering outstanding medicines management.
The clinical pharmacy team comprises clinical pharmacists, medicines management technicians, and trainees. You will be a highly valued member of the Critical Care and Pharmacy teams, a role model and mentor for foundation pharmacists.

Person Specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
* Completion of a Master's degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent).
* Full registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC or NI).
* A minimum of four years post-registration experience in pharmacy.
* Demonstrable evidence of competence in advanced clinical practice, including medicine and surgery and a further area of practice.
* Postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy, or satisfactory evidence of equivalent competence, as demonstrated within a practice portfolio.
* Identifies areas where non-medical prescribing may be applicable to advanced practice.
* Meets expected levels of practice as defined by others.
* Demonstrates the ability to deliver a clinical pharmacy service to a defined area.
* Able to utilize a variety of pharmacy computer systems.
* Demonstrable evidence of competence in Paediatrics.
* Qualified as an independent non-medical prescriber.
* Identifies areas for practice improvements.
* Experience in providing an advanced clinical service to Haematology/Oncology patients.
* Experience with electronic prescribing and medicines administration.
* Good Clinical Practice Certificate - clinical trials.
* Advanced Clinical Skills training.
* Current Basic Life Support training.
