Join Sheffield Museums Trust and help enrich life in the city through inspiring cultural experiences.
Sheffield Museums Trust (SMT) is a medium-sized independent charity that operates six of the city’s leading museums and heritage sites: Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, Graves Gallery, Kelham Island Museum, Millennium Gallery, Shepherd Wheel and Weston Park Museum. Established in 2021, the charity cares for the city’s collections of art, human and industrial history and natural science. In addition, SMT houses the Guild of St George’s John Ruskin collection and the Ken Hawley Collection Trust’s Hawley Tool Collection.
SMT manages creative and accessible museums that are woven into the fabric of the city, bringing people together and enriching their lives. The museums occupy a distinctive space in the city and the region, connecting people and place, bridging the past and present, providing inspiration and space to think for people of all ages and from all backgrounds. The museums share extraordinary stories of Sheffield and its people and celebrate the city’s reputation for excellence in craft, making and innovation.
The SMT team contributed to the development of Sheffield’s City Goals and Culture Strategy 2024 and works closely with Sheffield City Council, supporting its mission to celebrate and grow a vibrant cultural and creative city that inspires pride of place and puts Sheffield on an international stage.
