POSITION SUMMARY
Provide digital forensic investigation and proficiency testing services in line with quality management system requirements. Duties involve performing acquistion, processing and analysis tasks on wide variety of data sources/digital devices, such as mobile phones, personal computers, digital storage devices, corporate computer networks and cloud hosted content, and producing reports containing findings and proficiency testing results.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Utilise digital forensic equipment to capture, process and analyse data within an accredited laboratory environment or at scene/client locations. Produce high quality forensic reports / statements containing findings and present your evidence in Court.
2. Assist in the operation of CACI’s digital forensic proficiency testing services, performing a range of processes such as the preparation of test items and associated documentation, delivery/collection activities, examination and evaluation of completed test devices and production of reports.
3. Work in compliance with departmental and organisational policies and standards - ISO/IEC 27001, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO/IEC 17043, Forensic Science Regulators Code of Practice and ILAC G19.
4. Actively contribute to the continual improvement of the quality management system (QMS), assisting with quality and technical compliance activities to ensure the accuracy of results produced by the Laboratory.
5. Perform administrative duties relating to digital forensic activities, including the collection and delivery tasks. Assist with activities relating to the upkeep of the laboratory’s technical infrastructure.
6. Complete training and achieve / maintain all competencies defined for the role of Digital Forensic Analyst, or required for the post holder.
7. Contribute to the development of digital forensic laboratory services and capabilities by actively performing environmental horizon scanning, research and development into digital forensic methods, tools, risks and opportunities. Attend conferences and training to ensure that DFL are class leaders in digital forensics services and emerging issues.
The above list is not exhaustive and other duties commensurate with the grade and general nature of the post may be required. In addition, there may be some variation and/or development of the above duties and responsibilities without changing the general nature of the post.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
8. Educated to, or working towards a degree level qualification in a digital forensic or computer science based discipline, or significant experience of working within a digital forensic laboratory or policing environment.
9. Knowledge and experience of common operating systems, file systems (Android, iOS, Windows, MacOS & Linux), applications and networking technologies
10. Experience of conducting digital forensic processes, using a range of forensic hardware and software tools, applications and techniques.
11. Has experience in preparing reports and is able to present their findings in a clear and professional manner.
12. Knowledge and understanding of established principles and best practices, ISO/IEC 17043, ISO/IEC17025, Forensic Science Regulator Code of Practice, ILAC G19 and other related guidance documents applicable to Digital Forensics.
13. Full current UK / European driving licence and willingness or experience of travelling for work purposes.
14. Ability and willingness to work flexibly where required to meet departmental and organisational need and demand.
15. Ability to multitask and manage several projects at any given time.

ROLE DEMANDS
Applicants should be aware that this role may involve the exposure to material of an extremely offensive and distressing nature.
Normal demands associated within an office environment; ability to work on computer for long periods and communicate with individuals by phone, email and face to face.
Requirement for occasional travel to perform digital forensic work at scene / locations outside the Digital Forensics laboratory, involving some overnight stays.
Ability to cope working under pressure and time constraints in this uniquely challenging environment.
Agility and coordination in handling equipment and evidence as required. May be required to lift a variety of computer items, and sit/stand for extended periods of time.
