West Calder Medical Centre, 65 West End, West Calder EH55 8EJ
GP VACANCY
WEST LOTHIAN
At West Calder Medical Practice we seek to build a strong and dedicated team who are committed to supporting our patients and colleagues through the ever changing needs and demands of modern Primary Care. By adopting innovative and flexible ways of working, we strive to achieve the best possible work-life balance for our team members. We aim to do this by adopting a proactive approach, anticipating change and future planning, and we have an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic doctor to join us. We champion the democratic partner model, with all partners having an equal say in practice decisions regardless of experience/sessional commitment.
We are a large semi-rural training practice near Livingston (currently supporting an ST1), operating out of fantastic spacious modern purpose built premises. West Calder has always been a happy place to work, with high staff retention and low turnover rate of both doctors and administrative staff. Its easily commutable from Edinburgh, less so from Glasgow, but that hasnt stopped one of our partners doing so for 15 years!
We have 5 Partners including a highly experienced Management Partner. This is uncommon in Scotland but demonstrates the practices recognition that excellent management is vital to the operation of modern general practice, and to free up the clinical staff to concentrate on what they went to medical school for.
We are keen to appoint a salaried GP with the potential for future Partnership. Our team already includes 3 excellent salaried doctors, whose suggestions and observations have been of great help in driving the practice forward. On call commitments are helped by our team of 3 experienced ANPs. We also have a retainer GP and a long term locum. The team is complemented by practice nurse, healthcare practitioner, HCA, mental health nurse and a really helpful in house pharmacy team. We are fortunate to have our DNs, community CPN and Health Visitors all based on site in the practice, easing communication and co-operation in managing our patients. Teaching is important to us, and we welcome both medical and nursing students.
If you are an enthusiastic doctor who studied medicine to make a real difference, aspire to treat patients as you would wish your family members to be treated, and you have a strong commitment to education and teamwork then we would love to hear from you. We would anticipate offering 4-6 sessions, but getting the right fit for the team is most important to us, and we are pleased to be able to offer flexibility in terms of role, sessional commitment and start date for the right candidate.
Come and have a look around, or even locum with us for a day or two to meet the team.
