Job Description Summary Working within a multi-disciplined team of engineers at Dowty Propellers reporting to the Control Systems Engineering Manager, you will support the business in meeting customer requirements, quality, timescale and cost. Projects will include R&D, new applications and in-service product support.

Dowty is also a CAA approved Type Certificate holder, giving us propeller design authority and responsibility for the continued airworthiness of propeller systems in-service.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
Development/review of Interface Controls Documents for the propeller control system and/or propeller De-Icing system. Development/review of Electrical/Electronic requirements for the propeller control system and propeller De-Icing system. Development/review of wiring diagrams for the propeller control system and propeller De-Icing system. Provide electrical technical oversight of suppliers of sensors/effectors to Dowty. Provide electrical/electronic technical oversight of suppliers of Avionic boxes to Dowty. Review of DO-160 Qualification test procedures and reports from sensors/effectors/avionic box suppliers. (EMI/HIRF/Environmental). Development/review of DO-160 qualification test procedures and reports for Dowty products, including support to qualification testing. (EMI/HIRF/Environmental). Provide electrical support to Dowty's in service products. Lead research and development activities for new technology electrical items within the propeller system. Provide electrical/electronic support to the wider controls team research and development activities for new technology for propeller control systems and propeller De-Icing systems. Support with propeller system and De-Icing system integration and verification activities. Build relationships with customers and suppliers to define system's needs. Provide customer support for electrical/electronic Propeller system elements, including support to Engine Testing and Aircraft Testing. Contribute to the overall team development and growth through strategic inputs. Act as a Certification Verification Engineer for electrical/electronic propeller system elements. Accountable for the effective delivery of the Electrical Engineering activities within required timescales and budgets. Essential Characteristics
Degree in Electronics and/or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent knowledge, with significant experience in engineering for safety critical electrical and electronic products. In-depth experience of owning and leading electrical design elements for aerospace systems. Previous design and/or experience in aviation electrical systems or a similar highly regulated industry. Knowledge of DO-160, DO-254 and ARP4754A. Desired
Good written and verbal communication skills. Good problem solving and solution building skills. Experience with DOORS requirements management tool. Understanding of generic system design philosophy and lifecycle from concept through to commissioning. A good appreciation of the following: Capabilities and limitations of avionics communication busses EMI/HIRF in a propeller environment and implication for propeller control systems and de-icing Power distribution in de-icing and propeller systems Electrical interfaces between sensors, effectors, and control units Motion and displacement sensing technologies Electric motors, controllers, and associated modelling Electronic control for hydraulic systems Direct and indirect effects of lightning strikes Electrical and electronic design for safety critical systems Experience of applying a Systems engineering approach to integrated aircraft systems (e.g., a mix mechanical components and electro-hydraulic control systems).
