This role is pivotal to that journey. We have an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development, improvement, and delivery of critical systems that support UK Biobank operations. This role involves developing new features and enhancing existing functionality, participating in the full software development lifecycle, writing clean and secure code, and integrating software components with third-party programs.

The answer is “yes”, if you have a keen interest in developing your career within Data analysis. The key responsibilities are:
* Develop software with new features and improved functionality, focusing on early value delivery.
* Participate in the full software development life cycle (SDLC) and provide operational support.
* Write clean, scalable, testable, and secure code for both front-end and back-end development.
* Collaborate with team members in planning events, daily stand-ups, Agile practices.
* Adhere to defined release management processes and coding standards for software delivery and adoption.
* Participate in code reviews, pair programming sessions, and maintain up-to-date technical documentation.
* Work closely with test analysts to implement debugging processes, ensure optimal performance, and address software defects.
* Provide support for escalated issues and incidents.
* Ensure compliance with ISO standards, working with InfoSec to protect data.
Working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hybrid working is available. Located in Greater Manchester (initially based in Stockport with a move to Manchester Science Park mid to late 2026).
Is this 'you'?
Reporting to the Development Lead, you will have:
* Tech: Java, React, Spring Framework, JUnit, Mockito, Docker, AWS, Fargate, ECS, Load Balancer, and Aurora DB.
* Demonstrable experience using Java.
* Experience working in a software development product team and working with a product owner in a medium-sized enterprise.
* Experience writing testable, readable, and maintainable code.
* Broad understanding of enterprise application development.
Knowledge and experience of:
* SQL to manage data in relational database systems.
* Software Development Life Cycle.
* DevOps principles and practices.
* Principles and different types of software testing.
