MI5 keeps the country safe from serious threats like terrorism and attempts by states to harm the UK, its people and way of life. We carry out investigations by obtaining, analysing and assessing intelligence, and then work with a range of partners, including MI6 and GCHQ to disrupt these threats. Through our protective security arm, we provide advice and guidance to government, businesses and other organisations about how to keep themselves safe. A role in MI5 means you’ll do unique and challenging work in a supportive and encouraging environment, making a real difference to UK national security.
Our Commercial function plays a key role in keeping the UK safe. These teams ensure the delivery of vital goods and services across the UK’s Intelligence Services. We now have a range of opportunities available for individuals looking for an exciting role within a unique commercial setting. Inclusion is at the heart of our mission, and there’s no one ‘type’ of person we recruit. You’ll combine your enthusiasm and desire to learn with your talent for customer service – and shape a rewarding career at the heart of MI5.
We’ll shortly be recruiting for the following roles:
* Procurement Manager (Commercial Practitioner)
London: £46,172 - £47,560. Cheltenham/Manchester/Buckinghamshire: £43,900 - £45,310

Plus, you’ll have opportunities to gain professional qualifications such as the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) Level 4 (or equivalent).
And you’ll be part of a culture in which you’ll thrive. We offer flexible working options in these roles, meaning whatever stage of life you’re at and whatever your personal priorities, you won’t have to compromise. We also have a range of internal communities, sports and social groups, as well as affinity networks supporting ethnic minority and women colleagues, and groups championing LGBTQIA+, disability, religion, and social mobility. We’ve also achieved ‘Leader’ status as a Disability Confident employer. In short, ours is a culture that encourages and supports everyone to simply be their best, true selves.
The application window for these roles will open on Friday 14th March @ 10:00am. In the meantime, we encourage all those from an ethnic minority background to register their interest for these forthcoming opportunities. Please note that we’re confining registrations of interest to the above group only, due to their current under-representation in our workforce.
If you meet the demographic criteria outlined above, as part of the registration of interest you'll be invited to several online events prior to the application window opening. There will be an Insight Event where you can find out more about the roles. We are also offering a Skills Event which will provide general tips about completing a job application, preparing for interview etc. These events will run on:
* Insight Event – Wednesday 12th March (12.30pm)
* Skills Event – Thursday 13th March (1pm)
The events will last for approximately 1 hour.
Please note that a registration of interest does not constitute a job application, nor will such registration have any bearing upon the recruitment process itself. Any individuals who register their interest and who decide subsequently to apply for these will need to complete an application form once the window for applications has opened. Once the application window has opened, we’ll welcome applications from all candidates, regardless of their ethnic background, gender, disability and/or any other characteristic(s). Please check our nationality eligibility criteria requirements. All applications will be assessed solely on merit.
Before you Register:
To work for us, you need to be a British citizen or hold dual British nationality. You can read our full eligibility criteria here.
These roles require the highest security clearance, known as Developed Vetting (DV). It’s something everyone in the UK Intelligence Community undertakes. You can find out more about the vetting process here.
There are lots of opportunities to develop your skills – from admin, finance and legal, to security and HR. No matter the role, you’ll tackle things you won’t come across anywhere else. And you’ll be valued for everything you bring.
