Location Miskin
A opportunity has arisen at our Miskin site for a Building Maintenance Technician. This person will play a key role in the day to day operation of our Facilities department, helping to maintain the buildings and associated mechanical plant. The position requires a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who has the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities
Carry out mechanical maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
Provide breakdown response relating to building and plant equipment.
Complete planned maintenance tasks to schedule.
Liaise with other departments to ensure requirements and timescales are met.
Take a proactive approach to the general upkeep of buildings and equipment.
Mentor apprentices to help further their knowledge and experience.
Maintain records using our electronic maintenance recording system.
Key requirements
Mechanical qualification to NVQ/BTEC Level 3 or equivalent.
Previous experience in facilities maintenance.
Excellent technical knowledge & problem solving skills.
Broad mechanical skill set.
Experience with HVAC system maintenance and breakdowns.
Good working knowledge of Health and Safety practices.
Good standard of computer literacy.
Full driving license.
Desirable requirements
Forklift licence.
IPAF 3a & 3b.
Basic carpentry and plumbing skills.
Specification
The successful candidate will possess a can-do attitude and will take a proactive approach to the maintenance of our site and associated equipment. They will have the ability to quickly diagnose faults, and using appropriate techniques, administer repairs in a timely manner while maintaining excellent standards of health and safety and housekeeping. They will be self-motivated, able to work alone or as part of a team and will demonstrate initiative and attention to detail. Flexibility is key in order to work across the many aspects which make up the facilities operation. Previous experience with mentoring apprentices is desirable, as we continue to educate and train our future maintenance team.
