Purpose of the Job
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Triage and Allocations Officer. The successful candidate will provide initial housing advice to households and details of suitable housing options in the private and public sector, including information on homelessness prevention.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support Housing Options Officers in carrying out homelessness needs assessments.
2. Provide information and advice on support services available and assist in exploring various housing options.
3. Complete enquiries to assess homelessness applications.
4. Work with vulnerable people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.
5. Provide a customer-focused housing service, including the provision of housing advice and referrals when necessary.
6. Assess applications to the Housing Register and Homeless Services in accordance with the Council's Housing Allocations policy.
7. Allocate properties to successful applicants.
About You
We are looking for a customer-focused, organized individual who can report effectively through our IT database. The ideal candidate will be a team player but confident to work independently and have a flexible attitude to working under pressure. A thorough working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of applications is key, particularly Excel. You must also be able to maintain and update electronic information systems in accordance with data protection regulations. This role would be ideal for an individual with a customer service background, an eye for detail, and an understanding of safeguarding matters including domestic abuse and rough sleeping.
