Overview
Primary ways the Group Leader will contribute to the team:
1. Perform all duties of a Senior Technician
2. Teach animal care skills and techniques to new technicians
3. Oversee and suggest improvements in the work and procedural compliance of animal technicians assigned to their group
4. Ensure animal and cage observation requirements are met daily
5. Assure compliance with assigned inventory levels colony levels and production goals
6. Assure compliance with meeting reporting deadlines of colony and inventory information
7. Coordinate and oversee the shipping of animals without supervision
8. Perform other duties as assigned by management
9. Continually monitor, practice and enforce proper biosecurity concerns
10. Assist supervisor in developing and maintaining employee work schedules for their assigned rooms
11. Assist supervisor in addressing employee disciplinary and performance issues
12. Assist with the preparation of yearly reviews and PMD’s (Performance Management Development).

14. Have and practice good/strong leadership and human relations skills
15. Participate in regular staff meetings
16. Strong interpersonal skills are required to interface with teammates
17. Assists with coordination of training/development/mentoring of personnel
18. Work with a minimum level of supervision
19. Evaluate the work of others in an impartial manner
20. Work in a standing position that will require bending and stretching of arms and legs
21. Lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
22. Competency Level IV required in Training Record
23. Understand and utilization of (Recognize, Act, Tell, Sustain)
24. Understand and ensure AAALAC requirements are being followed
25. Evaluation of staff utilizing the Technician Advancement Program (TAP)
