Assistant Curator at Henry Moore Institute, Leeds
Full Time, 35 hours/week (Monday to Friday, 9:30–17:30)
Salary starting range: £26,500 - £28,500 + 12.5% pension contribution + other benefits

This is an excellent opportunity to work in an important new position in a vibrant visual arts organization, offering a pivotal role within the exhibitions team. They are looking for a curatorial professional to support the Head of Henry Moore Institute to deliver a varied programme of historic and contemporary exhibitions, displays, and publications of the highest artistic quality, presented to the utmost professional standards.
The ideal candidate will have a particular interest in and good understanding of sculpture, and at least three years’ experience in exhibition organizing, installing, and evaluating exhibitions and events in a professional gallery or museum setting. A commitment to diversity, access, and inclusion and excellent interpersonal skills are essential for this role, along with good writing skills and superb attention to detail.
Details
1. Manage the organization and coordination of the delivery of the exhibitions and displays programme to the highest professional standards;
2. Work with external and internal curators in the delivery of exhibitions and displays;
3. Curate a minimum of one exhibition or collections display every eighteen months;
4. Work with the Head of HMI, the Research Curator, and other colleagues on the delivery of HMI publications;
5. Identify touring partners for HMI exhibitions;
6. Assist the Head of HMI and the Institute team with the consideration of incoming exhibition proposals;
7. Work closely with the Exhibitions Organiser/Registrar and technicians to ensure the successful realization of exhibitions from conception to completion;
8. Work closely with the Exhibitions Organiser/Registrar and technicians to ensure the delivery of required security arrangements during packing/unpacking of artworks;
9. Liaise with the Research team, Engagement Curator, and Visitor Services Manager regarding exhibition-related public programmes;
10. Liaise with the Curatorial team at Leeds Art Gallery on the development and delivery of collection-based displays;
11. Prepare and monitor exhibition and publication budgets in collaboration with the Exhibition Organiser/Registrar, in liaison with the Head of HMI and other colleagues;
12. Work with Exhibition Organiser/Registrar, Head of HMI, and other colleagues to maintain proper control of exhibition programme expenditure and publication programme expenditure.
Basic Terms and Conditions:
This is a full-time permanent position (35 hours/week). The normal working week is 35 hours, worked over 5 days (Monday to Friday) between the hours of 9:30 to 17:30 excluding breaks. The starting salary offered for this position is in the range of £26,500 to £28,500 per annum, HMF pay band C, dependent upon experience.
