Job summary
Team ASPH is looking for a dynamic midwife to work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team of Obstetricians, Anaesthetists', Theatres, NICU, labour ward co-ordinators and Intrapartum matron in providing clinical, operational and managerial leadership. The ward manager for labour ward needs to be innovative, with the ability to lead ateam to provide safe and personalised care.
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate, enthusiastic and skilled in intrapartum care, with recent leadership experience. You must be committed to continuous quality improvement, participate in audits, support guideline development and engage in quality and safety processes. You must be willing and able to think 'outside of the box' to aid in the development of innovative maternity services.
ASPH are proud to offer a homebirth service, an amazing alongside birthing centre, and a level Neonatal Unit. Our midwives get a range of experience supporting uncomplicated pregnancies to developing care plans for our more complex pregnancies.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for the 24-hour management and clinical leadership of the midwifery services within Labour Ward and Labour Theatres.
Will be expected to lead a team, team build, organise others in their actions and set priorities, objectives and goals within their sphere of responsibility.
Will be expected to performance manage both the activity and members of the team. To make an effective contribution to reaching the Trusts vision, strategic objectives and key work programmes. Performing Return to Work conversations and facilitating flexi working conversations.
Will be part of a rota to support the Maternity Operational Coordination needs, and escalation for clinical activity for the maternity unit as required.
Will be expected to exercise excellent judgement in dealing with both clinical and interpersonal challenges. To be accountable for stock and equipment on Labour Ward; ensuring repairs and replacements are carried out, keeping in line with safe standards on the ward.
Will be expected to perform Audit in aspects of Labour Care and IPC expectations. Reporting audit findings at Wider Network and Governance meetings.
Will be expected to be visible and support staff with required daily compliances in clinical care and patient records on the required electronic databases.
Will be an advocate for Ward Accreditation and work closely with Maternity Ward Managers and Matrons to achieve Accreditation status.
Will be expected to practise clinically one to two shifts per rota to keep skills current and provide a role modelling to your peers; to fit in with needs of the service.
Will be expected to perform roster management and build rosters for all staff rotating to Labour Ward; 12 weeks prior to roster start
