We are growing our team in Durham and are seeking dedicated and committed Healthcare Assistants to join us and build positive relationships with our service users and their families.
We support adults, children and young people with long term life limiting conditions, providing specialist, person centred care which is tailored to their individual complex care needs.
This rewarding role offers short calls & sleep in shifts, on a full time or part time basis, providing essential care to our service user within their own home.

Meet our service user
Our service user is a kind and caring lady in her late 20’s.
She is currently residing in a care setting, and we are building a care team to support her transition back home to her adapted bungalow in Durham, where she lives with her mum.
Her interests include reading, watching television and spending time in the garden. When the weather allows, she would love for her care team to support her with gardening tasks.
She also has many beloved pets including dogs, cats and horses, so it is essential that you are comfortable around animals.
She is a very sociable lady, and we are looking for bubbly and outgoing individuals to provide care and companionship throughout the day, evening and night.
She is unable to mobilise independently and is reliant on her care team to support her daily activities, from meal preparation to medication administration, personal care, moving and handling and clinical interventions.
As part of her care team, you will undertake visits of 1-2 hours throughout the morning, afternoon and evening, ensuring that her care needs are met.
Your Night shift will consist of arriving at our service users’ home for 7pm and provide attentive care before assisting her to bed and accompanying her night-time routine. This will be in the form of a 12-hour shift, 7pm - 7am (you will sleep-in between 11pm – 6am.)
Our service user likes to be settled in bed by 10pm and will often watch TV to wind down for the evening.
Throughout the night you will remain alert and responsive to attend to any interventions she may require along with promoting a restful environment to ensure a good night’s sleep.
If urgent assistance is needed overnight, then she can alert her care team by using her voice activating possum device that is voice controlled via her iPad.
Please note, it is essential that you hold a valid UK Driving Licence and have access to a vehicle.

Essential Requirements
5. 3 months previous care experience
6. Personal Care
7. Moving and Handling
8. Medication Administration
9. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
10. Valid UK Driving Licence (required for day shifts)
Experience working with the following clinical needs is desirable, however is not essential to be considered for this role:
11. Spinal injury management
12. Catheter Care
13. Cough assist
14. Awareness of Autonomic Dysreflexia
Shifts Available
Pop in visits paid at £15.00 per hour
15. Morning - 9am to 11am
16. Afternoon - 1pm to 2pm
17. Evening - 9:30pm to 11pm
18. Sleep in Nights
19. 2 shifts per week
20. 7pm - 7am (sleep in 11pm – 6am)
Approx. £152.00 per 12-hour shift
We also offer enhanced rates for Bank holidays, increasing to approx. £165.00 per 12-hour shift.
