Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity for a Specialist Senior Educational Psychologist to join our team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.
Stockton Virtual School is an expanding team of friendly, reflective practitioners from varying education backgrounds, who value professional development and strong peer support to ensure that we consistently develop and maintain skills and knowledge. As a member of the team, you will be well supported through regular supervision, opportunities to develop areas of interest and collaborative working with colleagues. The post holder will have a detailed understanding of the needs of young people who have experienced aspects linked to relational attachment or developmental trauma. They will be committed to the use of relational based approaches to supporting children such as Emotion Coaching, Trauma-informed and solution orientated practice.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills and will be practised in devising, developing, and delivering training material / coaching and psychological approaches linked to the latest research in the area of trauma responsive practice. They will also be a reflective practitioner familiar with action research and have the ability to carry out research for the Virtual School in accordance with their strategic objectives.
In addition, the role will involve regular psychological case situation supervision to the Virtual School staff, developing and delivering training for the Virtual School staff, multi-agency consultation work for schools and complex problem-solving approaches such as Circle of Adults. This post may involve a small amount of selected statutory work or oversight of statutory work for the Virtual School head teacher. The role will involve close working with partners such as social work teams, LAC CAMHS, SEND and Inclusion and joint working / training to support foster carers. Offering support as required by the Virtual School Head Teacher is an integral part of this role.
Applications are welcomed from experienced candidates who have a masters or doctorate level qualification in Educational Psychology and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, HCPC. You should be creative and forward thinking with the knowledge, skills, enthusiasm, and willingness to use psychological frameworks to facilitate positive change.
