The Role:
As the Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will serve as the designated “Key Worker” for patients undergoing anticancer treatment at GenesisCare. Your role encompasses the crucial responsibility of supporting patients throughout their treatment journey. Collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive specialist service aimed at delivering the highest standard of clinical care.
As an expert in your field, you will showcase an exceptional level of knowledge and proficiency, providing specialised advice, education, and support to patients, their families, and carers. Your expertise will extend to contributing to and leading the ongoing advancement of clinical practices and standards of care within the service.
Furthermore, in partnership with your multidisciplinary colleagues, you will actively support quality improvement initiatives and participate in the continuous development of services, ensuring that patients receive optimal care and support throughout their treatment experience.
What You'll Do:
1. Serves as a Key Worker for a clinical caseload, facilitating care coordination and ensuring accessible ongoing support for patients.
2. Collaborates with all members of the multidisciplinary team and support staff to establish a seamless pathway of care for patients.
3. Proactively delivers effective and personalised care that prioritises patient safety, consistently demonstrating a calm, caring, and compassionate approach to every patient, every time.
4. Operates as an expert clinical practitioner within the oncology service, offering specialised nursing advice and support to other healthcare professionals involved in patient care.
5. Works alongside the multidisciplinary team to contribute to the development of standards of care and treatment pathways that align with patient needs.
6. Takes a proactive approach to service improvement, engaging with key stakeholders to enhance referral waiting times and improve access to treatment.
What You'll Have:
Experience and skills:
1. Registered adult nurse
2. Clinical research awareness (desirable)
3. Previous experience of working as a clinical nurse specialist or similar advanced practice role (desirable)
4. Experience of audit and/or research (desirable)
5. Experience of service development or quality improvement projects (desirable).
6. Minimum 3 years relevant post-registration experience with 2 years in cancer, palliative care or the specialty
7. Experience of teaching in clinical practice.
8. In-depth specialist experience.
Qualifications and Knowledge:
1. First level degree in related subject.
2. Evidence of Masters level study or prepared to work towards.
3. Post-reg qualification in cancer/palliative care or relevant subject
4. Advanced Communications Skills Training
5. Level 2 Psychological Skills Training
6. Teaching and assessing in clinical practice qualification or equivalent
7. Evidence of continued professional development.
