Assistant Income and Contracts Accountant
Job summary
Assistant Income and Contracts Accountant, 37.5 hours per week
This is an exciting and challenging time to join the Trust's Income team as the national funding regime enters a new phase.
The post-holder will support the Trust to ensure that it recovers the correct amount of income that is due, including income from national tariff, block contracts and non-contract activity.
They will support the Income and Contracts Accountant to ensure that the correct activity recording and reporting processes are in place to support the implementation of the changes to national guidelines in relation to funding methodologies.
Main duties of the job
You will have a good background in Finance, preferably AAT qualified, and be adept at using a range of finance and information systems and be proficient in the use of MS Excel. You will need good communication skills to discuss income issues with a range of staff.
The role will include:
1. Maintaining the Trust's income schedule
2. Supporting the production of month-end and year-end accounts including the preparation of detailed working papers
3. Raising invoices for contractual and non-contract activity
4. Provide detailed monthly reports of activity and income to Care Groups

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Certificate level/Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) member, or demonstrable experience of successfully performing a substantially similar role to degree level
* Good general education including Maths and English at GCSE level or equivalent
Desirable
* Actively studying towards higher CCAB/CIMA qualification
* ECDL or equivalent.
Knowledge
Essential
* Computerised ledger systems and other financial reporting systems.
* Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Knowledge of accounting concepts, e.g. accruals, prepayments, debtors and creditors
* Understanding of internal financial control systems.
* Demonstrable knowledge of technical accounting issues, e.g. VAT
Desirable
* Awareness of NHS funding arrangements
* Advanced Excel skills
* Knowledge of contract monitoring systems e.g. SLAM
Experience
Essential
* Preparation of complex written and numeric reports.
* Undertaking financial analysis.
* Significant experience in finance roles
* Working effectively in a team and on own initiative
* Interpreting and applying national guidance
