The Role – Construction Manager (Civils)
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Manager to take a leading role in the delivery of a water treatment upgrade project in Worcester. The scheme includes major reinforced concrete structures (FRC), complex temporary works, deep drainage, pipeline installations, and heavy civils.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all site operations, coordinating subcontractors, managing health & safety, and ensuring quality control throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires a technically strong and proactive leader who can drive programme efficiency and deliver the scheme to the highest industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage all site operations, ensuring programme targets and project milestones are met
* Oversee reinforced concrete works (FRC), deep drainage, excavation, pipeline installations, and temporary works
* Lead subcontractor coordination, ensuring productivity, efficiency, and quality control across all trades
* Implement and enforce strict health, safety, and environmental compliance across the site
* Work closely with the Project Manager and engineering teams, ensuring technical requirements and design specifications are followed
* Take responsibility for temporary works planning and execution, working with design teams and site supervisors to implement safe systems of work
* Ensure high-quality construction standards are maintained through rigorous QA/QC processes
* Oversee logistics, plant, and material management, ensuring smooth site operations
* Conduct regular toolbox talks, briefings, and site audits, reinforcing best practices and compliance with CDM regulations
* Identify and resolve site-based challenges, proactively managing risk and maintaining a strong safety culture
Key Requirements
* CSCS Card (Black or Gold)
* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
* CITB Temporary Works Coordinator Certification
* First Aid Certification
* Cat & Genny Training (Cable Avoidance Training)
* Proven experience as a Construction Manager, overseeing civils, water treatment, FRC, and temporary works projects
* Strong background in deep drainage, heavy groundworks, and reinforced concrete
* Ability to lead and coordinate site teams, managing multiple subcontractors and ensuring efficient workflow
* Excellent knowledge of health & safety legislation, risk management, and CDM regulations
* Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders
