An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner to work within the AHP Medical Team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The AHP team provides assessment and treatment of adults with a wide range of medical conditions within the downstream medical wards. The team has a skill mix of experienced Specialist Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapists, Rotational Staff, an Assistant Practitioner, and HealthCare Support workers offering a broad range of competencies, knowledge, and clinical experience. This post is part-time at 29.6 hours per week. A car driver is preferable but not essential to this role.
The individual will be responsible for the independent management of their delegated caseload, from initial assessment to discharge. In the instance that patients' needs change and become more complex, there will be the opportunity to hand them over to the team’s Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. It will also be expected for the post holder to make onward referrals to relevant community services at hospital discharge. Good time management and confident clinical decision-making, and an understanding of the role of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists is essential for this role. Training opportunities will be supported to carry out relevant competencies and to be involved in team service development projects. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated and enjoys being part of an enthusiastic and hardworking team.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part-time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37-hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
Candidates should provide original and authentic responses to all questions within the application form. The use of artificial intelligence (AI), automated tools, or other third-party assistance to generate, draft, or significantly modify responses is strongly discouraged. By submitting your application, you confirm that all answers are your own work, reflect your personal knowledge, skills, and experience, and have not been solely produced or altered by AI or similar technologies. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in your application being withdrawn from the application process.
