Job Description
In September 2021, the Trust opened its first Key Stage 1 SEN unit in Cudworth. We opened Newstead Academy, our first stand-alone specialist school in September 2023, and opened Newstead Hunningley in September 2024 as a satellite site.
Our aim is to provide high-quality educational experiences for all children across our settings; both mainstream and specialist sites. A key factor across our specialist sites is ensuring that our children are happy, engaged, and motivated to enable them to thrive as part of our team. Our parents recognise this, and in our recent OFSTED inspection, commented on how their children were ‘flourishing’ in our school environment. Our children are at the heart of everything that we do, and we continually strive to improve our offer as that is what our children deserve. We have high expectations and are looking for an individual that shares our vision and understands the importance of maintaining high standards at all times.
We are seeking an exceptional and forward-thinking individual to support our work across the sites. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a strong and dedicated staff team who are committed to high standards and creating an inclusive learning environment for all children.
Your track record will demonstrate positive impact and the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships. You will be an outstanding SEND practitioner.
We are looking for someone who:
* Is an outstanding practitioner
* Has proven leadership experience - this could be as a senior leader or within a leadership area e.g. Maths, behaviour, area of specialism
* Has wide and current knowledge of SEND and Inclusion legislation and best practice
* Can analyse performance data to target and evaluate
* Has proven experience of positively impacting on pupil progress, raising attainment and developing excellence
* Will be ready to utilise the benefits of a curriculum that is innovative and flexible in terms of delivery and content; this is likely to include designing a bespoke curriculum that meets the needs of a variety of the pupils
* Will have high expectations of the children’s learning and behaviour and is committed to raising standards
* Will be engaged with our ethos, thinking creatively and reflectively within an open and honest team, whilst keeping the needs of the pupils firmly at the centre
* Is able to lead and share best practice, be flexible and compassionate
* Will play a full part in the life of our specialist settings and be committed to working in partnership with staff and parents
In return, Waterton Academy Trust can offer:
* Access to professional development and support from a wide network of colleagues within Waterton Academy Trust, including a team of skilled school improvement professionals. This would include a tailored CPD package designed to support you in your role and in your future career aspirations.
* A firm commitment to your continuing professional development, including opportunities to collaborate and contribute within the trust and the broader education system.
* A positive school community with a strong focus on staff and pupil wellbeing.
* Motivated and engaged pupils who are keen to learn.
* A comprehensive health and wellbeing package, prioritising your physical and mental health through SAS.
* An attractive pension scheme, ensuring your future financial security.
* Access to a cycle to work scheme, promoting a healthy and eco-friendly commute.
* Access to a salary sacrifice scheme for EV vehicles.
