OVERVIEW OF THE DEPARTMENT/SECTION
Within GCIB (Global Corporate & Investment Banking), ESFO (European Structured Finance Office) offers comprehensive advisory and debt arrangement for the non-recourse and limited recourse financing of long-term, capital intensive projects. Our specialist teams focus on a range of sectors, including power & renewables, infrastructure, natural resources and housing finance.
Within ESFO:
* the Financial Advisory team (“GCIB Financial Advisory”) spans all sectors and aims to structure the most competitive and deliverable funding solution for our client base, evaluating all available funding sources in the market. These funding sources include commercial or multilateral banks, ECAs, institutional investors, private placements or public bond finance or a combination thereof. The team also provides credit ratings advisory services.
* The Energy and Infrastructure teams have responsibility for the delivery and execution of the financing product in their respective sectors.
The JCIB (Japanese Corporate Investment Banking) Financial Advisory team will operate alongside the existing GCIB Financial Advisory team, with the same geographical and sector remit, delivering the advisory product specifically to projects where clients covered by JCIB have a controlling interest.
On projects jointly participated by clients covered by JCIB and GCIB, JCIB Financial Advisory and GCIB Financial Advisory teams will share responsibility.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
* Playing a key role in further developing, growing and sustaining a market leading financial advisory business services across the Energy and Infrastructure sectors in EMEA with specific focus on clients covered by JCIB.
* Operating as a product expert, responsible for the origination and structuring of advisory transactions across the asset classes covered by ESFO and for leading business development initiatives.
* Acting as a focal point for relevant clients or counterparties, leading execution of more complex transactions to maximise revenue generation.
* Interface and strategic alignment with ESFO’s sector teams and product and coverage stakeholders.
* Contribute in managing the interface between ESFO and JCIB.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Lead business development activity, such as specific marketing initiatives, and pitch opportunities.
* Build and maintain relationships with key high profile clients or counterparties, providing the highest standards of advice and service to ensure their continued trust in and patronage of the Bank.
* Lead and execute high profile / strategically critical client transactions and negotiations at the most senior levels, ensuring that client and MUFG’s strategic objectives are met.
* Accountable for ensuring compliance with all internal and external regulations, guidelines, standards and procedures to protect the reputation and activities of the Bank.
* Represent MUFG at industry forums to share insights and expertise.
* Contribute to the development of product related policies, recommending adaptations as appropriate for the particular context.
* Plan, manage and control resources to make sure that the right resources are allocated to the right opportunities and work flow is effectively managed.
* Line management responsibility to develop team members.
* Act as role model on I&D topics and set the standards that team members should meet.
* Represent the function as required at senior levels within MUFG within EMEA.
* Work in partnership with colleagues across all regions to share best practice, deliver an integrated global service to clients and win business across all product lines.
* The role may require extensive international travel.
WORK EXPERIENCE
* Relevant experience from a structured finance advisory/product role.
* Experience from active interaction with clients from a marketing and execution perspective.
* Proven previous successful origination experience.
* Experience from structuring innovative financing solution across asset classes with the ability to place clients’ need at the centre of structuring/advisory effort.
