Job Overview:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented sea freight import co-ordinator to join our team. As a key part of our logistics and supply chain department, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating sea freight shipments, ensuring efficient and timely import/export operations. You will support the distribution of our temporary steel fencing products to both domestic and international markets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sea Freight Coordination: Manage all aspects of sea freight shipments, including booking cargo, arranging transport, and ensuring compliance with shipping regulations.
2. Import/Export Documentation: Prepare and manage necessary documentation, such as Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, and Certificates of Origin.
3. Customs Compliance: Ensure full compliance with customs regulations for both imports and exports, submitting declarations and working with customs brokers where required.
4. Tracking & Reporting: Track shipments, maintaining accurate status updates and providing regular progress reports to internal teams.
5. Vendor & Carrier Liaison: Build and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other logistics providers.
6. Problem Resolution: Resolve issues that may arise during shipping, such as delays, damage, or customs holds, and implement solutions effectively.
7. Cost Control: Monitor freight costs, negotiate competitive rates with suppliers, and ensure shipments stay within budget.
8. Inventory Management Support: Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure sufficient stock levels and help coordinate customer orders and stock replenishment.
9. Customer Service Support: Assist with customer enquiries related to shipping schedules, delays, or delivery updates.
Key Skills & Requirements:
1. Experience: Previous experience in a sea freight / logistics role
2. Knowledge of Shipping Procedures: Strong understanding of sea freight logistics, import/export documentation, and customs clearance processes.
3. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with external vendors, freight forwarders, and internal teams.
4. Attention to Detail: A high level of accuracy, especially when preparing and reviewing shipping documents.
5. Problem Solving: A proactive approach to resolving issues in the shipping process.
6. IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with shipping/logistics software.
7. Organisation: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
8. Teamwork: Able to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently when required.
