Land Acquisition Officer Remote UK or Hybrid working (Stockbridge, Edinburgh) Locogen is a renewable energy company. We are looking for a Land Acquisition Officer to join our experienced Developments Team working on utility scale renewables projects. About our Land Acquisition Specialist role: This is the ideal role for a driven, self-motivated and proactive person with around 1 to 3 years of experience in Land Surveying. You would be helping to acquire land on for solar and wind farm development and maintaining good working relationships with our landowners throughout the development process. You would also be working closely with our GIS team to help us identify land for wind and solar projects, speaking with landowners and land agents and negotiating legal agreements. This role would suit someone with a good client-facing presence who is able to communicate technical information clearly and simply to a range of people and personalities. Our team can coach and mentor you and help with your professional development. Some of the things you will be doing: Identifying land sites that are suitable for Solar or Wind Development. Representing Locogen - negotiating viable and cost-effective land deals that allow renewable energy projects to progress from initial site search through to agreed A&E and HoTs. Negotiating and drafting competitive land agreements. Taking a lead role in delivering land rights and associated matters. Representing Locogen professionally, establishing and maintaining good relationships with landowners, tenant farmers, land managers or others who own and manage land to ensure they are well informed of developments and progress. Liaising with and managing the work of in-house and external lawyers and accountants. Attending consultations and meetings with stakeholder groups. Keeping meticulous electronic records of discussions; noting issues and seeking resolutions. Staying well informed on all issues affecting the countryside and keeping up to date with new regulations that are likely to affect land use. We are looking for: A proactive, motivated and ambitious person with good communication skills. An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a surveying related subject (Rural Surveying, Estate Management, or a relevant discipline). Previous land surveying experience, ideally in utilities. Ability to use QGIS for site identification, constraint mapping and legal plans. Able to interpret maps and land forms and collect and present information in a logical and organised manner. Familiarity with property law (preferably with experience of both Scottish and English & Welsh Laws). Knowledge of investment, valuations, funding of projects, taxation associated with land transactions and Landlord and Tenant agreements. A sound knowledge of sustainable land management practices and good stakeholder management skills. Good presentation skills and the ability to clearly explain maps and diagrams that depict geographic areas of interest. A good client-facing presence and be able to communicate technical information clearly and simply. An ability to convey complex concepts clearly to a wide range of people and personalities. Drivers license. Desirable skills: A sound knowledge of renewable energy and experience working in the field. Experience and an understanding of the energy markets and issues pertinent to the valuation of land for renewable energy projects. Experience of renewable energy projects and a commercial understanding of business needs. Working towards associated surveyor status, in a general practice or rural estate would be an advantage.
