About Us
The Northern Lighthouse Board is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, responsible for the superintendence and management of all lighthouses, buoys and beacons within those waters. We have provided this vital safety service to mariners since 1786.
The Role – Overview
Based at the NLB’s Headquarters in central Edinburgh, as a Civil Project Engineer, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary project department. Working alongside an Electrical Project Engineer, you will assist a Project Leader in surveying sites, preparing reports, producing contract documentation, and creating AutoCAD and REVIT drawings, as well as overseeing site works, including site establishment, progress inspections, and site clearances. You will be required to visit the lighthouse sites around the coast of Scotland and the Isle of Man, many of which are located offshore and in remote locations, requiring regular maintenance, refurbishments, and capital upgrade works.
Salary and Benefits
* £43,306 per annum rising to £47,643 after 1 year in post.

* Annual Leave allowance of 25 days, rising by 1 day per year of service up to 30 days

Qualifications/ Experience Required
* A minimum of an HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a relevant subject.
* A good understanding of Health and Safety and Environmental legislation and working knowledge of quality standards and procurement management.
* Proven REVIT and AutoCAD skills and proficient in preparing drawings for engineering and tender purposes
* Demonstrable experience in structural, civil or building engineering.
