The Role
The Head of Finance will possess strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills and must be adept at working to tight deadlines. This role requires strong personal and communication skills, alongside confident leadership and management abilities.
Duties
1. Annual Accounts & Audits: Oversee annual accounts preparation and coordinate with external auditors.
2. Budget Preparation: Develop the annual budget and cash flow projections; maintain a 3-5 year financial plan.
3. Internal Controls: Ensure internal control processes to mitigate financial risks and enhance resource efficiency.
4. Daily Accounting Operations: Manage billing, accounts receivable/payable, general ledger, and revenue recognition.
5. Financial Forecasting: Prepare budget and financial forecasts, including scenario planning and sensitivity analysis.
6. Management Accounts: Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and termly re-forecasting with analysis and commentary.
7. Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and oversee timely tax returns and payments.
8. Bank Reconciliations: Oversee regular bank reconciliations.
9. Documentation: Maintain business process and accounting policy documentation for strong internal controls.
10. Operational Improvements: Streamline and improve accounting systems and operations.
11. Policy Updates: Review and update financial policies as needed.
12. Strategic Support: Support strategic planning and decision-making processes.
13. Project Management: Develop business cases and oversee new project implementation.
14. Cash Flow & Debt Management: Manage cash flow, debt, and collections.
15. Bursaries & Scholarships: Administer bursaries and scholarships according to policies
16. Payroll Management: Manage payroll and monthly adjustments, including pensions.
17. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate finance staff.
18. Audit Process: Oversee the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
19. Reporting: Assist in presenting financial reports to executives, governors, and board members.
About You
20. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred).
21. Professional accounting qualifications such as CA or CPA.
22. Proven work experience as a Head of Finance, Director of Finance, or similar role.
23. In-depth understanding of cash flow management, bank reconciliation, and bookkeeping.
24. Hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management.
25. Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models.
26. Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and financial reporting software.
Salary and Benefits
