Job Description:
The Leonardo Cyber Security Division is looking to recruit a range of Cloud Engineers to join its Bristol engineering team with responsibility of engaging with project teams to take part in all stages of the system life cycle from design and build through to ongoing support. The systems support of a variety of cyber security and ICT products and solutions within defence, government or public sector organisations.
The Cloud System Engineer role demands excellent technical skills with the ability to support, maintain and Cloud platforms conforming to industry best practice and/or Leonardo best practices and technical designs. You should have excellent team working attributes as well as ability to take responsibility and accountability for independent working.
Projects will cover the full systems engineering lifecycle from Concept Exploration through to In-Service Support providing the opportunity to develop your experience in requirements management, system architecture and design, subsystem design and development, system integration, test and acceptance and specialist technical support.

As a Cloud Engineer, you will typically be work in the platform team in support of larger project teams on the design, development / testing and support of platform team including but not limited to, Information Management Systems, Command and Control systems, Security Monitoring of IT, IoT and CNI systems and services.
These roles will have the ability to take ownership / implement the engineering delivery of one or more work packages, including the planning, estimation, execution and progress reporting of own workload and that of other team members.
Key Responsibility Areas
Experience of performing Cloud and systems engineering activities including network solutions, storage solutions, virtualisation solutions, client/server solutions, Windows and Linux operating systems, and high availability solutions.
1. Experience working with at least one cloud vendor
2. Software defined networking experience
3. Good knowledge of some PaaS technologies
4. Building Git and CI/CD based release pipelines
5. Maintaining the Landing Zone and shared services
6. On boarding new accounts
7. Supporting project teams to deliver their projects in a compliant and cost effective way
8. Strong cyber security knowledge
AWS:
9. Noticeable experience focused on AWS engineering, including proven live production environment projects.
10. Strong infrastructure as code (Teraform) and scripting-based cloud automation experience
11. Experience organisational transformation from traditional services to AWS.
12. Good understanding of most of the following AWS technologies: Core IaaS –compute, storage, networking, hybrid
13. Exposure to AWS SaaS offerings
14. Identity, authentication & security (IAM, Active Directory, ADFS, network security, RBAC and related technologies)
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience within a CLOUD systems engineering or IT solution delivery / support role, and preferably working in a secure environment. You will possess a strong all round technical ability with an excellent working knowledge of network and systems infrastructure technologies. An awareness of cyber security capabilities is advantageous.
Desirable Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge
The role absolutely requires the candidate to be cleared to SC and a willingness to achieve DV clearance if required.
A good working knowledge and experience of IT systems; mainstream IT infrastructure
services and components as well as Networking services including:
15. AWS common services (EC2, Lambda, IAM, VPC,)

17. TCP/IP protocols, DNS, and DHCP
The role requires good interpersonal skills when dealing with peers and clients as well as the following skills:

20. Good document writing skills to support system documentation and report writing ability to manage workload for themselves and associated teams in pressurised environments to Time, Quality and Standards
