Operational Support Manager - ENT, Head and Neck, Oral and Maxillofacial and Restorative Dentistry.
Please note, that following the successful completion of a competency framework, the successful candidates will progress into a Band 7 Operational and Performance Manager. Further details can be provided at interview. Expected progression to band 7 would be within 18 months.
The purpose of the role is to provide operational and senior administrative support to services within a clinical group. The role will support the operational delivery of a high quality, efficient and patient centred service in line with national and local Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
The post holder will provide operational support to the service leadership team in the smooth running of the service. The post will specifically help support the Associate Group Manager in the management of administration teams and functions, waiting list management and scheduling of patients to ensure that KPIs and national NHS standards are met, within available resources, ensuring effective patient care within a timely manner.
The role will include line management, provision of complex or sensitive information across a wide range of teams and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to enable delivery of patient care.
1. Line management of service administrative and clerical teams, ensuring that Mandatory Training, Appraisals and Sickness Management is up to date and in line with Trust policies and procedures.
2. Effective management of both inpatient and outpatient waiting lists, ensuring optimal use of hospital resources liaising with Clinical Co-ordinators, Consultants, Health Records staff, Medical Secretaries, Operational Managers, Out-Patients, Private Patient services and Ward Managers.
3. Analyse, manipulate and interpret waiting list data/information to support planning and performance processes and effective resource management within the service.
4. Review, in support of the Associate Group Manager, monthly performance metrics and compliance against key performance targets, qualitative indicators and business case benefits realisation targets

4.. Management of DNA rates and supporting implementation of strategies to reduce DNA rates and maximise clinical capacity.
5. Work closely with Clinical Support Services Group to review outpatient clinic and theatre utilisation, to ensure the maximum use of available resources.
6. Support the implementation and delivery of business cases, IT System upgrades and other projects within the department as required.
7. Be an active member of the Service Leadership Team and provide support to the Associate Group Manager, Clinical Leads and Modern Matrons.
