Job summary We are looking to appoint a dynamic, experienced clinical leader in this role. This post is a key position within the Trust and is responsible for supporting the Trust to have a strong, well-led, well managed safety culture and to provide expert professional advice and work with divisional colleagues on ensuring the development and delivery of key safety standards. The Patient Safety Specialist Lead will directly support patient safety improvement activity and ensure that systems thinking, human factors understanding and restorative just and learning culture principles are embedded in all patient safety processes. They will act as a positive role model through the provision of effective professional leadership and demonstration of competent, accountable clinical practice." Main duties of the job o The post holder will work alongside the Quality and Patient Safety Team and the current Patient Safety Specialists to drive the new National Patient Safety Strategy and deliver the Patient Safety Incident Response Plan ensuring it is embedded within the trust. o The post holder will work with clinicians and managers across all Clinical Groups, Corporate Teams, and external stakeholders to deliver the requirements for the framework, tracking and reporting progress following robust project management methodology. o The Patient Safety Specialist Lead will lead and support the local implementation of the NHS patient safety strategy and response framework which supports the three strategic aims of improving understanding of safety (insight), equipping patients, staff and partners with the skills and opportunities to improve patient safety (involvement) and designing and supporting programmes that deliver effective and sustainable change (improvement) o The postholder will ensure the strategy is aligned with the national programme and liaise with trusts first adopters of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework to learn from their experience and adapt our plan where required.
