Description
The Senior Product Manager for Learning Content is based in UK, Europe or North America (Remote or Hybrid) & reports to the Director for Certification and Professional Development.
As a Subject Matter Expert with a background in Maritime Education and Training, you will monitor and advise on the main cargo sector regulations, writing updates and new content for our digital learning and assessment products.
This role is involved in productisation of learning content. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the company to define and prioritize product initiatives, ensuring that we deliver innovative, customer-centric solutions that drive both customer satisfaction and financial results.
You will contribute to cargo content strategy and advise on maintenance of content within Ocean Platform content library. Collaborate to ensure learning and assessment products are up-to-date and relevant including compliance and ‘value add’ content. Identify new Learning and Assessment (L&A) topics for cargo sectors and act as content author and reviewer. Identify and drive continuous improvement. Act as an expert for internal stakeholders regarding learning and assessment needs across cargo sectors.

Key Responsibilities
* Track regulatory updates for multiple cargo sectors to identify Content changes
* Maintain Impact Report; communicate requirements to Product and Compliance Managers for timely roadmap scheduling
* Author new cargo learning content in collaboration with other SMEs, Product Managers, Instructional Designers, development teams and other stakeholders
* Update existing learning & assessment content
* Participate in and give feedback on content reviews to ensure accuracy and sector specific relevance
* Engage with cargo clients, internal teams and end users to gather and assess feedback on cargo content
* Use Quality Assurance processes to drive continuous improvement
* Oversee team of Course Workbook Assessors; calibrate grading periodically and coach on Assessor competence as required
* Contribute to Workbook grading, if required
* Advise on queries regarding learning and assessment compliance, regulations and content
* Contribute to upgrading colleagues’ knowledge
* Contribute to SME groups and Go To Market activities
* Recommend industry endorsements and initiatives to increase uptake of L&A content.

* Complete authoring of new content and reviews of existing content accurately within the timescales set by Product Manager - Content.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Qualifications:
* Degree in Maritime Studies / Marine Engineering / Nautical Science / Marine Transportation or a related field.
* Qualification / certificate in training delivery (eg Train The Trainer course)
* Internal auditor certification (preferred, not essential)
Professional Background
* Qualified and experienced at senior officer level, ideally Master Mariner / Chief Officer / Chief Engineer / Second Engineer
* Extensive experience sailing on range of merchant cargo deep sea vessel types
* Experienced in developing and / or delivering training within Maritime Education and Training eg as an instructor / lecturer / on board trainer
* Experience instructing on simulator courses - preferred
* Experience of shore-side work within marine operations / maritime training organisation eg Seafarer Training / Crew Management / HSEQ / Superintendent – preferred
Expected Areas of Competence:
* Good understanding of the international regulatory framework for MET including the IMO STCW Convention & Code - essential
* Strong understanding of seafarer education and training syllabi and resources including familiarity with IMO Model Course content - essential
* Understanding of ‘learner centred’ approaches to MET
* Good understanding of training certification processes in a range of countries
* Experienced using ISO 9001 process (or equivalent QA standard)
* Experienced in using a wide range of software and digital platforms
* Engaged in developments in MET; keeps updated on industry trends, legislative changes, and best practice in seafarer training
* Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English language
* Ability to structure and write clear and accurate learning content
* Strong intercultural awareness
