About the job Job summary Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) in Whale Island, Portsmouth, is the nerve centre of the Royal Navy, supporting operations around the globe and providing the ships, people, aircraft, and equipment to deliver the United Kingdoms (UK) Defence policy. NCHQ supports all the Royal Navys (RN) activities from: front-line operations; personnel and training; finance and governance; safety; equipment acquisition; programmes and planning; and Defence Engagement. Job description The Fuel Operations team are a small and friendly group of people, we ensure that the Royal Navy have access to Maritime Fuel on a global basis. We are responsible for all aspects of Fuel Inventory Management. The Fuels Business Support Officer position is based in Leach Building on Whale Island, Portsmouth, however the position can be based at home for an agreed proportion of the working week. You will have the opportunity of working in partnership with colleagues across NCHQ, other Front-Line Commands, Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S), Industry and Allied Navies. You will co-ordinate inventory activities which involve the management of UK Marine Fuel stock including accounting, finance and inventory management. You will also provide a supporting role to the Navy Command Fuels Support Officer, responsible for providing fuels support world-wide. Full on the job training will be provided. This post is high profile and will provide the holder with opportunities to develop skills, support Operations and gain experience within the UK and Allied Maritime environment. Person specification Responsibilities UK fuel supply chain lead for F-76 (Marine Diesel) and F-44 (Marine Aviation Fuel) to RN vessels in UK commercial ports. The lead person responsible for Fuel Accounts: stock accounting and finance for F-76 and F-44 fuels. Provide Management Information (MI) on UK strategic fuel holdings at the six MOD UK Oil Fuel Depots. Running the Australian, New Zealand, Dutch, French and Japanese International Fuel Exchange Agreements (FEAs). Run the UK/US Fuel Storage Agreement (FSA). This includes stock management and finance. Facilitate fuel sales (F-76 & F-44) to all non-MoD customers, including industry and Naval Allies. Provide routine cover (anticipated at one week per month) for the Fuel Ops Support post, arranging supply of fuel for RN/Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) ships while on deployment. Full training will be provided. This activity includes out-of-hours paid working, attracting both on-call and overtime payments.
