Our office is in Exeter city centre. The South West has a wonderful variety of landscapes and activities to enjoy, and has good transport links to the rest of the country. We enjoy our work and are exceptionally enthusiastic people who are great at what we do. Reporting into the Structures Team Lead, you will provide highways design and consultancy services for local authority clients within the South West. We are passionate about supporting Local Authorities to deliver improvements for local communities. We have a strong track record of working closely with our clients and this role provides a great opportunity to have a pivotal role within Communities and help support and steer its growth going forward.
The type of work we undertake is extremely varied but includes:
1. Designing new and replacement bridges and retaining walls, as well as inspecting, assessing and strengthening existing structures, ranging from masonry arches and stonework retaining walls to modern moving structures.
2. Taking your projects through their entire life cycle, from inception to construction.
No two days will be the same, but you could be expected to:
1. Prepare and review reports, drawings, schedules and other documents in accordance with local procedures and guidance.
2. Coordinate and communicate with multi-disciplinary supporting teams from across the UK and the globe in delivery of projects as well as clients and stakeholders.
3. Site work for site meetings, inspections and construction supervision.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
1. A passion for working on projects that make a real difference to local communities.
2. Experience in the development of highways structures projects.
3. Evidence of being a confident communicator able to convey your point of view and keep stakeholders and colleagues informed.
4. Working towards Incorporated or Chartered status with a professional institution.
5. A civil engineering degree or equivalent.
6. A full and clean driver’s licence.
