Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant
Location: Plymouth, UK
Hours: Full-Time, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Monday – Friday)
Salary: £85 - £90 per day
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and supportive school in Plymouth. This full-time role involves working closely with students who have special educational needs, providing them with the support they need to thrive in an educational setting. The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and passionate about making a difference in children’s lives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) in the classroom and during activities.
* Assisting the class teacher in delivering tailored learning plans to meet individual needs.
* Encouraging and motivating students to engage in their learning.
* Managing classroom behaviour and ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Providing one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional help.
* Supporting students with personal care needs where necessary.
* Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other staff to create a nurturing learning environment.
* Monitoring student progress and feeding back to teachers and parents as required.
* Assisting with classroom preparation and resource development.
Requirements:
* Experience working with children, preferably in an SEN or classroom setting.
* A patient and empathetic approach to working with students with additional needs.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
* A passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
* Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential).
* A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
