UKCEH is looking for an experienced Stakeholder & Internal Communications Officerto join our team of talented individuals, contributing to scientific discovery and generating the data, insights and solutions that researchers, businesses and governments need to solve complex environmental challenges.

Join the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH) and play a key role in highlighting the importance of environmental science in tackling the world’s biggest challenges. From biodiversity and climate change to water and pollution, our science delivers solutions that support Government, academia, businesses, NGOs and communities.
We are looking for a Stakeholder & Internal Communications Officer to join our Corporate and Internal Communications & Engagement team. In this role, you will help strengthen UKCEH’s relationships with key external stakeholders while also supporting internal communication initiatives that inform, inspire, and connect our people. You will play a vital role in delivering engagement strategies, organising events, creating compelling content, and tracking stakeholder interactions to ensure our communications have impact.
Key Responsibilities
6. Develop and implement engagement activities to enhance UKCEH’s relationships with external partners and internal audiences.
7. Support stakeholder mapping, helping to identify and prioritise key audiences.
8. Plan and deliver VIP visits and events that build collaboration and knowledge exchange.
9. Create engaging materials, including briefings, newsletters, intranet content, and digital communications.
10. Work closely with teams across UKCEH to ensure a collaborative and consistent approach to engagement.
11. Support internal communications initiatives, including staff updates, leadership communications, and employee engagement campaigns.
12. Help manage internal channels such as the intranet, email updates, and internal events to ensure colleagues stay informed and connected.
13. Gather insights from internal and external audiences to continuously improve our engagement efforts.
14. Monitor, track, and report on stakeholder interactions, engagement trends, and internal communication effectiveness.
15. Support the development of reports and dashboards to provide insights into engagement activity, helping to inform future strategy.
For the role of Stakeholder & Internal Communications Officer, we’re looking for somebody who has:
16. Experience in stakeholder engagement, internal communications, or a related field.
17. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
18. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
19. Experience in organising events.
20. A proactive, creative, and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
21. Experience in managing internal communication channels (such as intranet platforms, newsletters, or internal events) is desirable.
22. Experience in tracking engagement data, reporting on insights, or using CRM tools is desirable.
23. Knowledge of the latest approaches, technologies and techniques in communications and how to apply them.
24. Relevant degree and/or professional qualification communications or equivalent experience.
