Regulatory/Fitness to Practice Barrister 2+ To £££
This popular firm is looking to hire a barrister in their professional discipline team which acts for a number of regulatory bodies, primarily in the health sector and increasingly across a number of other professional disciplines. You will be presenting cases and managing an investigatory caseload where it is alleged the registrant's fitness to practise is impaired through misconduct, competence or health issues and preparing those cases for hearings.
Advocacy typically involves straightforward hearings and more complex cases such as sexual misconduct, dishonesty allegations/fraud, and serious instances of deficient professional performance. Opportunities to appear in the High Court and the First Tier Tribunal on appeals from decisions of the regulators will be available. Previous healthcare experience is preferable, but applications from barristers with experience at the CPS, criminal defence work, employment tribunal, or inquests are also welcome.
