Context
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Town Planner to join our growing team in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, or York. These positions will suit a committed and ambitious person who can demonstrate aspiring leadership and developed interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing a dynamic high-performance team.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a wide range of practical work experience. This is a good opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with five to seven years of experience in a local authority or consultancy setting to further their career in a highly motivated team working in an inspirational fast-paced environment. The role will initially principally support the delivery of HS2 consents (Schedule 17) for major infrastructure projects while also assisting in the delivery of other town planning projects.
Missions/Main Duties
* Be an integral member of the Planning & Consents Discipline, developing the technical capability of the discipline and supporting the development of graduate/assistant Town Planners.
* Support and assist the Planning & Consents team with the completion of project deliverables, taking responsibility for projects/parts of projects and supporting with the general operations of the team.
* Contribute to the continued development of Town Planning & Consents technical excellence within SYSTRA.
* Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation in the discipline.
* Assist the Planning & Consents team in developing and implementing processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the delivery of projects and the quality of outputs within the team.
* Maintain strong working relationships, communication, knowledge sharing, and innovation sharing with SYSTRA resource centres worldwide and our industry partners and supply chain.
* Assist and support the team in client engagement to provide a deeper understanding of future needs and to position SYSTRA in the UK market.
* Participate in industry events to engage with new clients and partners.
* Maintain an up-to-date understanding of market drivers, developments, and key innovations in the discipline.
* Identify tools, processes, IT and software requirements in the discipline and standardisation wherever possible in line with project requirements.
Profile/Skills
* Chartered Town Planner (RTPI) with experience in preparing and/or determining submissions for consent.
* Town Planning experience gained in a Local Authority and/or within a consultancy environment.
* Contribution to applications for statutory consents, preparing consent documents, working with Local Authorities, statutory bodies and other transport authorities.
