We are looking for an Applications Engineer who is passionate about engineering and interested in the pharmaceutical industry. Key responsibilities will be the specifying of systems from client requests, generating costings and quotes, liaising with clients and suppliers to certify project scope and system capabilities. Following this, you will then support the handover of successful bids to the production team. You will work within the technical sales team taking on multiple enquiries at a time of varying complexity, supported by various assets of the wider sales team. You will also be supported by all in-house teams including: project management, procurement, manufacture, electrical, and automation where required.
The role would suit a candidate that can work to the bigger picture, can be self-governing, and has good interpersonal skills. The role predominantly involves taking client specifications and working with internal and external team members to generate a suitable technical design and proposal for the client. There would also be responsibilities to ensure that successfully bid projects are communicated effectively to the production team to give them a complete understanding of scope and client requirements.

Applications Engineer Position Overview
Core Responsibilities
1. Generate Technical Proposals ensuring:
1. Scope of project is accurately captured and understood by client and production team.
2. Technical design of project equipment/systems is fit for purpose.
3. The project has adequate budget for project execution.
2. Oversee transition of project from technical sales to production with all technical information understood.
General Responsibilities
1. Ensuring the completion and submittal of proposals and any required supporting information as per submittal deadline.
2. Using CRM System to update progress on individual enquiries, as well as reporting feedback to sales coordinator and team during regular update meetings.
3. Carrying out general enquiry sub tasks such as:
1. High level design of bespoke engineering systems.
2. Client meetings to define scope and technical specifications.
3. Agent meetings and calls to manage developing proposals.
4. Technical specification of system components where required.
5. Completion of client documentation such as datasheets where required.
4. Generate Costings for proposals by:
1. Contacting suppliers and specify equipment for quotation;
2. Creating system tailored costings for each proposal and justifying prices.
5. Scope and alignment of commercial terms with internal and external team members.
6. Represent company at external sales events both nationally and internationally.
7. Engage in client technical and commercial meetings when required.
8. Development of internal sales document and tools when required.
9. Collaborating with project managers on achievable delivery times.
10. Communication with customers, suppliers and others as required.
Applications Engineer Position Requirements
Essential
1. BEng Mechanical Engineering Degree (or equivalent)
2. 2+ Years experience in a related engineering field
3. Firm understanding of engineering principles.
4. Proficient with the use of Excel and Word.
5. Experience of 2D CAD Software (AutoCAD)
6. Good interpersonal skills
7. Works well in a small team with an ability to self-manage
8. Attention to detail and a high standard of verbal and written skills
9. Ability to commute to Bishops Stortford would be required during the first month’s training period.
Desired
1. Understanding of manufacturing processes would be beneficial as we manufacture all our systems in house.
2. Experience in 3D CAD software
3. A basic understanding of engineering process equipment (such as pumps, heat exchangers and valves etc.) would be beneficial.
4. An aptitude for undertaking engineering calculations and analysis
