City of York Council is looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and proactive individual to join the Building Services Capital Projects team as we fulfil our commitment to provide and support healthy and sustainable housing in York As Capital Projects Officer you will be responsible for successfully delivering projects within CYC’s cyclical investment programme. This will include the procurement of contractors, site set up and supervision, contract, programme, budget and administration management. The role will involve: Acting as first point of contact for the technical oversight of contractors and associated staff Monitor contractor performance, including KPIs Set quality standards for contractor output Primary responsibility for ensuring Health and Safety Compliance of projects Lead on multiple contracts Undertake scope for works, agree pricing and variations, checking of work and bringing the property to a successful completion for our tenant For the role you will need: A “can do” attitude to challenging problems and situations, and the ability to react at pace Excellent customer, communication and interpersonal skills, Good IT skills including use of databases Technical design skills Associated relevant qualifications for the role with a willingness to undertake further training as required Good knowledge of Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM) 2015 As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C1: Can express themselves fluently and spontaneously, almost effortlessly. Only a conceptually difficult subject can hinder a natural, smooth flow of language. Hybrid working arrangements are available for this role.
