Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to join our infrastructure team based in Burton Upon Trent, with coverage for our Bury St Edmunds office.
Our Infrastructure team delivers M&E projects for clients in Defence, Retail, Rail, Commercial, Industrial, and Healthcare sectors across England.
The Pre-Construction Manager will oversee estimating and bid writing while supporting business development efforts. This pivotal role requires strong leadership to help the Operations Director deliver profitable growth for our successful business.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage work-winning activities from business development to securing contracts, then hand over opportunities to the Operations team.
2. Develop and implement a pre-construction strategy aligned with business objectives, emphasizing quality and profitable new business.
3. Support the Senior Management Team in researching and developing new business opportunities across various streams.
4. Engage with clients to describe and sell our mechanical and electrical engineering services, including Data and Network Solutions, Process, Panel Manufacturing, and General Building and Technical Services.
5. Stay informed about market needs and identify potential new clients and opportunities.
6. Manage the estimating team to ensure accurate cost assessments.
7. Identify and challenge value engineering savings during tendering.
8. Assist the commercial team in risk management.
9. Create impactful presentations showcasing MARCH’s capabilities.
10. Write detailed bid proposals highlighting our unique strengths to secure targeted opportunities.
11. Manage the CRM system to ensure data accuracy and currency.
12. Build and maintain a realistic sales pipeline.
13. Lead all PQQ submissions with support from SHEQ and operations teams.
Skills and Experience
* Experience in pricing MEP building services, including LV & HV infrastructure, lighting, small power, data networks, HVAC, LTHW, and renewables (desirable).
* Proven track record in strategy development and implementation to drive growth.
* Excellent listening, questioning, and consulting skills.
* Strong people management abilities.
* Effective communication and networking skills at all levels.
* Exceptional proposal writing and business development skills.
* Teamwork experience.
* Car owner/driver.
Qualifications
* UK Driving License.
