We are seeking an exceptional and passionate Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) and Designated Teacher for Looked after Children to join our dedicated team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for driving the strategic development of SEN policy and provision, ensuring that all children with additional needs receive the support and resources they require to thrive.
You will need to be supportive of a culture of care, resilience, and independence, ensuring individuals feel safe, valued, and empowered to reach their own individual goals.

Many pupils in our school need additional support to enable them to be successful in the classroom. The role will be varied, working across various departments in the school. To apply for this position, you will be required to have Qualified Teacher Status [note: this is a requirement under the SEND Code of Practice] and a SENCO National Professional Qualification (NPQ), or a willingness to complete it within 3 years of appointment [note: this is a requirement under the SEND Code of Practice].
Key Responsibilities:
* Determine the strategic development of SEN policy and provision in the school
* Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and specific provision to support individual pupils
* Provide professional guidance and support to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies
* Maintain an accurate SEND register and provision map, analysing assessment data to inform interventions
* Identify pupils' SEN, coordinate provision, and communicate regularly with parents/carers
* Promote the inclusion of pupils with SEND in the school community and access to the curriculum
* Act as the designated teacher for looked-after and previously looked-after children
* Lead INSET training and share best practices with the staff team
