About the Role
We are currently seeking a motivated, dynamic and experienced lead urban economist to join the Dar Economics Department in the London office. At Dar Economics, we provide strategic, economic and financial advisory services at every stage of the project development process to help deliver on Clients’ visions. This includes identifying development opportunities and strategies, formulating and testing the viability of plans and developing a sound evidence base to inform Clients' decision-making. We work across all sectors including, but not limited to: Regional and Urban Planning (regional planning, tourism development, industrial zones, urban masterplans and real estate projects) and Infrastructure (spanning water and wastewater projects, hydroelectric, renewable energies, transport etc.). Further, projects span a number of geographies - notably the Gulf region, Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. The role will entail leading on the strategic and market analysis for projects, working alongside our financial analysts in delivery of feasibility studies and coordination with all other disciplines across the company.
Responsibilities
* Leading in the development of economic strategies for regional/urban/industrial plans - using a mix of quantitative and qualitative methods.
* Conducting business cases, feasibility studies and economic impact assessments.
* Interfacing with Clients, including stakeholder engagement, project management and presentation of deliverables.
* Coordinating and liaising with other disciplines in project delivery.
* Mentoring and managing junior analysts, and supporting their professional development.
* Ensuring compliance with all quality assurance/control requirements in line with internal processes.
* Contributing to project proposals and other business development activities as required.
* Travelling for Client meetings/workshops as needed (sometimes at short notice).
Qualifications
* Strong first degree in relevant discipline (Economics, Urban and Regional Planning, Real Estate Development or similar).
* Post graduate qualification (MSc. or MBA) an advantage.
* 12+ years' experience in consultancy work or related economic field.
* Relevant project experience.
* Team player, strong communication skills, self-motivated, problem-solving skills, able to manage time and resources and work under tight timeframes.

* Demonstrable qualitative and quantitative abilities to inform strongly evidenced recommendations and advice
* Good technical capabilities and experience in providing professional economic advice across a range of projects
* Experience in managing time and resources to meet project deadlines within budget
* Demonstrable experience in leading teams in the delivery of projects
