Consultant - Liaison - Tameside General Hospital
Pennine Care NHS Trust Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a full-time substantive Liaison Consultant Psychiatrist. This post is based in Tameside and is currently staffed by 0.8 wte Consultant in Liaison Psychiatry.
This is an exciting time to join the Trust and there are many opportunities to contribute to the organisations' development and to look at service design models. Tameside has a very strong teaching commitment and candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching of medical and nursing staff and 4th year medical students. There are close links with ongoing research projects.
Main duties of the job
To provide high-quality Mental Health Care for the majority of new referrals, it is expected that complex assessments with high levels of risk may initially be assessed, and management led by the consultant.
The post holder will provide support and guidance to liaison practitioners where there are any concerns regarding presentation and management of patients, through clinical discussions and providing reviews of patients where required. This may be due to complexity due to diagnostic medication risk and legal issues. The post holder will provide feedback and guidance to the referrer both in the acute hospital and within the liaison team.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
* MBChB or equivalent
* Full registration with the GMC and CCT or within six months of achieving this
Desirable criteria
* Degree, such as Msc or MD.
* MRCPsych
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
Essential criteria
* Good Interpersonal and team working skills.
* Leadership skills.
* Knowledge of relevant requirements and legislation such as The Mental Health Act, Care Programme Approach etc
* Be Section 12 and AC Approved or within the next 3 months

What happens if I am offered the position after interview?
