We are recruiting for a Manager for our Wholesale Insurance Portfolio Delivery team; this role involves setting and delivering the supervisory strategy, as set out in our portfolio letters, for all wholesale insurance firms.
The role is high profile with a primary focus on the Lloyd’s and London Market (also known as the London wholesale market) but it may also involve delivery of work across Retail Insurance, Life and Funeral Plan portfolios.
You will play an important role in keeping abreast of the changing market, the emerging risks for insurers, brokers and consumers and helping to shape, and deliver, our supervisory strategy for this complex portfolio. You will be responsible for the ongoing development and management of the high performing team delivering the supervisory strategies for this significant sector as well as building an important internal and external network.
What you will be doing:
* Connecting and working closely with other departments to shape the strategy for supervising wholesale firms and driving the delivery of supervising firms against that strategy.
* Identifying and dealing with firms that present the most risk in the portfolio.
* Leading, supporting, line-managing and developing a team to ensure that excellent standards of performance are delivered.
* Building and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in areas such as policy, enforcement, competition, PRA and trade bodies.
* Establishing and maintaining a network of external working relationships with senior stakeholders in key firms, gathering relevant input on crystallising and emerging risks across the portfolio.
* Being part of the management team within Insurance Directorate, contributing to its development and helping the division meet its goals.

Which skills are required?

Minimum:
* Experience of working in the insurance sector across different business models and products.
* Qualitative and quantitative analytical experience, with an experience of assimilating information quickly and clearly to draw out key implications from a broad and varied range of information.
* Proven previous people management skills, with experience of supporting, coaching, motivating and developing people.
Essential:
* Understanding of business models in the wholesale insurance sector and the impact of the wider economic climate on firm behaviour.
* Experience of engaging at a senior level with an ability to influence key stakeholders and an ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong communication skills with an ability to convey complex issues with credibility in a coherent, logical and compelling way.
* Ability to manage priorities and workload, with experience in managing a range of work across multiple projects at the same time.
* Experience in dealing with contentious issues, taking action and persuading with well-reasoned arguments.
